Wooden Utility Poles and the Telegraph Industry

July 1st, 2009 . by admin

Wooden poles are used as utility, creosoted, telegraph and transmission poles. Raw wooden poles are used for electrical and telecommunications sectors. Most wooden poles are manufactured from the locally available stout wood, which is maintained and replaced whenever required. There are Tantalite E treated poles for telecommunications and other purposes – it is a copper based wood preservative formula, which increases the life of the wooden pole. Hence, lesser trees are cut and there is a reduction in the cost of maintenance too. Wooden poles are a good support for the electrical wires as wood is a bad conductor of electricity. Wood is also a stout material to hold the weight of telecommunication devices and transformers.
