I was arrogant, so I lost my files
October 3rd, 2009 . by adminI had tried to keep my computer free of viruses. For a long time it was completely devoid of such things because of the precautions that I took to make sure no virus would get into my computer and erase my files. However, in my arrogance of believing that my virus protecting precautions were enough, I did not consider getting any backup software or even though about computer backup. I never believed such a thing would be necessary.
I thought computer backup and online backup was just something for people that were unable to keep viruses out of their computers and that they were not something for a technology wiz like me. I learned the hard way that backup was not just for the technologically stunted.
I was working on a work report for my boss one day when my computer just shut down. I thought that it was just a power failure and that I could just turn it back on. But when I did, everything was gone, including my report. I learned that there was a network virus that bypassed all of my firewalls and destroyed my files; and there was no way I could recover backup files because I didn’t have any backup software or online backup. All backup software and online backup programs saved the files of my colleagues, but destroyed mine. All that I needed to do was get some backup like online backup or backup software and all of the files I had worked to protect would still be here.
