The whole time I was growing up, I don’t remember seeing my parents fight once. They held hands everywhere they went, even when they had five children. Every week, they went on a date together. As a teenager, I teased them that it was gross. But in actuality, I secretly thought I was the luckiest child alive to have parents that loved each other so much. So when I heard that they were getting divorced, it was really shocking news. Apparently, they had been having problems for quite some time. But they didn’t want their children to worry, so they hid it from them until everything was final.
