I always thought that the only reason why some diabetics have to face foot or leg amputation is poor circulation. Surprisingly, this is not so. I had no clue that there was such a condition called foot ulcers and that these ulcers can become infected, leading to amputation. Fortunately, some diabetes supply companies offer extra special foot care kits just for diabetics to prevent foot ulcers and support overall foot health. Since older folks with diabetes can’t be expected to have pretzel-like flexibility, the kit includes a long-handled brush and sponges for scrubbing and cleansing feet and toes. There is also a mirror that attaches to the long handle to visually inspect soles daily for abnormalities.
