In the traditional “old school” music recording industry, bands or artists would get signed to a record label based on their grass roots songs.  After that, its to the studio with a record company appointed producer, to create a radio ready album.  The funny thing is that the producer will normally chop the creative originality out of the grass roots song to make a new song that conforms to the mass appeal market.

It is quite possible that with the advent of free mp3 music downloads, artist creativity to the end product has increased in a big way.  Musicians today, do not have to cow tow to any record company executives and can produce their music the way that it was intended and felt at the time of creation.  All in all, this should be considered a great thing and expect more diversity and creativity for songs and music being offered across the web.
